Spencer Bailey and Andrew Zuckerman Launch The Slowdown, a Conscious Entertainment Media Company

May 1, 2019, NEW YORK — The Slowdown, a conscious entertainment media company founded by Spencer Bailey and Andrew Zuckerman, announces its official launch on May 1 with a podcast, Time Sensitive. Providing context and clarity around some of the most relevant and pressing issues of our time—culture, nature, and the future—The Slowdown makes short-form content with a long view, encouraging empathy and reflective thought through its beautifully crafted stories across a range of media.

Time Sensitive is an interview podcast that features candid, revealing portraits of curious and courageous people in business, the arts, and beyond who have a distinct perspective on time. Each week, Bailey and Zuckerman will respectively interview a leading mind who has made a profound impact in their field, contributed to a larger conversation, and is concerned with the planet we share.

Starting with an episode featuring Zuckerman in conversation with actor Peter Sarsgaard, to debut on May 1, Time Sensitive will release an hour-long podcast every Wednesday. A variety of leading creative figures will follow, including Bronx native and Ghetto Gastro CEO Jon Gray, A-list celebrity stylist Kate Young, Danish-born architect Bjarke Ingels, and Brooklyn-based artist Teresita Fernández, among others.

Time Sensitive rethinks the standard podcast audio experience with a web-based editorial approach. All of the episodes will be separated into four chapters, each 5 to 25 minutes long, and transcribed, edited, and slightly condensed into a text interview on the timesensitive.fm site. Also included will be hyperlinks to references, as well as corresponding visuals.

Both the slowdown.tv and timesensitive.fm sites were designed in collaboration with art director Omar Sosa, the publisher and co-founder of Apartamento magazine. The Slowdown’s logo and identity system was created by Susan Sellers of the firm 2x4. The drummer Billy Martin, of the band Medeski, Martin & Wood, composed the podcast’s theme song.

Following Time Sensitive, The Slowdown will launch a to-be-announced weekly e-newsletter, a slate of episodic non-scripted shows, and in-person experiences.
